The sandy and the ivy…

…when they are both full grown.

So it’s not quite Christmas, but Intel believe in spreading some cheer with some new goodies in the form of Ivy Bridge.

Hot on the successful launch of Sandy Bridge sees Intel leading the market place with the upcoming 22nm Ivy Bridge CPU, which is expected to give a 20% performance increase over the Sandy Bridge platform.

As we know, Ivy Bridge will be compatible with H67 and P67 motherboards but not a lot of information is known other than the process they shall be manufactured under.

The 22nm CPUs will give a low thermal output whilst offering more performance, showing that Intel are heading in the right direction to compete with the upcoming Bulldozer and Llano technology that rival AMD will be taking to mass market.

Also news on the new Core i7 2657M being leaked showing that it will operate with a low output of a 17 watt TDP and continuing on with Intel HD 3000 graphics. Prices are expectant to be high but that’s Intel all over.

We should be seeing the likes of the 2657M being released in its mobile form around Q2 2011.
