The Final Build

That’s right, it’s marquee day, the icing on the cake. Thank you Dave Alcock (Davido_Labido) for the perspex to mount the vinyl! My daughter Lauren repping the marquee. James wouldn’t leave the games alone in the background.

I cut the perspex to size with the jigsaw, sanded the edges, and wet applied the vinyl covering. Obviously, I customised this print myself. I wanted to thank the brand who supported this and me and the kids will never forget it. Thanks again Corsair, AMD, AOC, Gigabyte and Noctua, you have been immortalized, and RGB backlit.

At night, in a dark corner of the room, there is a beacon of light, and it’s the mighty quarantine arcaded. The LED lighting, the bezel, it’s just epic. What’s great is that with the SFX PSU and Noctua fan inside, it is literally silent all the time.

The bezel is fantastic, but we’ve taken the RGB mode off as it’s much clearer with a single fixed colour.

What do you think, red or RGB? I think the red is more professional looking.

Time for a big of gaming. We’ve got all the classics, but because it’s a pretty powerful PC, it’ll run RPCS3, Xenia, Dolphin, and other modern emulators remarkably well. Plus with XOUTPUT, Xpadder, and JoyToKey, we can simulate many different controllers with (relative) ease. For the most part though, we’re running a CoinOps Arcadian front end through RetroFE that comes pre-populated with emulators and ROMs of the classics.

This has been a firm favourite in the house though, with an ongoing high-score battle leading to many late nights.

Not everything can be done on arcade controls though. For example, we are limited to two players. However, thanks to a late addition of these two SteelSeries Stratus Duo controllers, we can now do FOUR PLAYER battles. If we weren’t on lockdown and needing to remain civil, I’d download Smash Bros. Thank you SteelSeries for these, very much appreciated!
