Thecus Announces N2350 2-Bay Home NAS 1

Thecus showcased some new NAS devices during CeBit this year and now the first of them has been officially unveiled. The new NAS unit is designed for SOHO and it is called the Thecus N2350. The new N2350 is an upgraded version of the N2310 and it has been upgraded on almost every aspect.

The processor in the N2350 is a dual-core Marvell Armada 385 with a 1GHz clock speed which is coupled with 1GB DDR4 memory. That makes it one of the first, if not the first, SOHO NAS featuring DDR4 memory. The upgrade in memory should add quite a bit of performance to the NAS as DDR4 simply offers the better platform. An added bonus is that DDR4 memory requires less power and thereby making the new N2350 even more efficient. In fact, the modernised hardware makes the N2350 one of the most energy efficient NAS in its class.

“The N2350 provides all the essential storage services you need from a NAS, at a very attractive price point with an unprecedented level of energy efficiency. This Thecus NAS server can be quickly assimilated into any home and office environment, to delivering greater connectivity to users from day one,” says Florence Shih, General Manager at Thecus Technology Corp.

Thecus N2350

The N2350 comes with the latest Thecus operating system, ThecusOS 7.0. This is another great step forwards compared to the predecessor as ThecusOS 7.0 brings a fresher user interface, more features, and better security. Key new features include Photo Center, File Center, and Thecus App Center, with an extensive variety of apps for modern digital lifestyles including the Surveillance Station.

Despite the N2350 being an entry-level SOHO device, it is offering a complete data backup and protection option to users: Thin provisioning, replication for disaster recovery, Remote Backup or disaster recovery (for real-time remote or local backup) as well as backup to Amazon S3 cloud service. Thecus Connect and allows easy access from mobile apps no matter your own location.

As for availability, Thecus announced that the new N2350 units will be ready to ship at the end of April. Even better, it will cost as little as £139 GBP.
