Over Power Protection and Max Wattage

When it comes to power supplies, while they may have a rated amount there is nearly always a little extra ‘under the hood’. This is there to ensure that if your system does occasionally require a little extra, the power supply isn’t going to start panicking! This is, of course, no substitution for ensuring you get the right power supply wattage for your system.

So, how did the Thermaltake Toughpower Grand RGB do? Well, the short answer is, fantastically. Achieving 973 watts before the overpower protections kicked in is very impressive. Put simply, there are at least 200 extra watts that can likely be drawn before you started getting any problems. While this isn’t, of course, advised, it is nice to know that it’s there!
