Thrustmaster F1 Wireless PC Gamepad Ferrari 150th Italia Alonso Edition Review

There we have it, the Alonso Editon of the Thrustmaster F1 Wireless PC Gamepad, a very sleek and stylish looking dual analogue (plus micky mouse ear) controller for PC and Playstation 3, but is it a great controller or not? That is the major question is it not. While it did do rather well in my tests, I’d even go as far as saying I like the controller, I’m not sure that I am the person it’s marketed towards, I’m not an F1 fan my self but I do like the style and general design of the controller, the ergonomics of it feel comfortable too, so I’ll give Thrustmaster a plus point on those accounts.

But is this controller going to appeal to the general market, no its not, its design leads it straight into the hands of the collectors of Ferrari and F1 merchandise, its obviously not going to be to everyone’s taste, but when it comes to use on a Playstation 3, is it better than the official controller, no, but is it cheaper than the official controller, yes it is, by a full £30.00 too, given that this controller can be picked up for around £25.00 its certainly a great value for money option from the official controller, especially if all you play is racing games.

The same can be said on the PC, which is favourable to the Xbox 360 controller, which again out performs this one from Thrustmaster but is once again more expensive, at at least if your buying a wireless one anyway.

So while I don’t think I could give this our gamers choice award, I am happy to give it our Bang For Buck Award, even thought it is a little specialist, it comes very close to the performance of controllers that cost twice as much, yet it does it in a limited edition, highly styled, if somewhat specialist in taste format, so whether your a fan of F1 or not, this is a great alternative to the many bland looking controllers that you will find in the sub £30 price range.
