Final Thoughts

Price

The TteSports Poseidon Z keyboard is available from Newegg for a very affordable £53 or $89, making it one of the cheapest mechanical keyboards on the market. It isn’t exactly packed with features and it does feature a clone of the more popular Cherry switches, but this is obviously reflected in the price, making it a great entry point for those wanting their first mechanical switch keyboard.

Overview

I really like the Poseidon Z, it’s an affordable product that delivers exactly what it says on the box. There may not be a lot of features or extras included in the deal, but everything that it does have is well made, works really well and I simply cannot overlook that very wallet friendly price tag.

Cheap doesn’t always have to mean poor quality and while I’m sure many would still pay more for Cherry switches, just because they have more knowledge of the brand and their quality, the Kailh switches have made a good impression on me today. They’re a little on the loud side, but I think this is less of a concern to those who are looking for a good quality keyboard on a tighter budget, and the promise of a five year switch guarantee from TteSports is something a consumer will not brush aside lightly.

Build quality is solid, the keyboard feels sturdy and its firm rubber pads keep it well planted on your desktop. The design is presentable too and you wouldn’t feel bad about having this on display. Plus the LED backlighting is a welcome touch and something that is often reserved for keyboards higher up the price range.

“The Kailh switches in the Poseidon Z offer great performance, they’re a little loud compared to Cherry, but still give you a great typing action that can bring benefits to your work and gaming. The keyboard is a little short on features, but at this price range you would be crazy not to at least consider TteSports latest offering”

Pros

  • Durable build quality
  • Anti Ghosting
  • Windows Key Lock
  • Very competitive price
  • LED backlighting

Cons

  • Kailh Blue switches are noticeably louder than Cherry MX Blue

Neutral

  • The Kailh switch still needs time to establish a reputation and mechanical keyboard aficionados will likely stick with Cherry
Bang-For-Buck
