The Theron Infrared was in my mind a gimmick, a cheap way of pushing an existing product for a second time and I couldn’t see why putting a different sensor in this mouse would make much difference, especially given that it was already a really good product for the price range. I couldn’t have been more wrong.
TteSports have taken the Theron back to the drawing board, the new sensor gives it a fresh lease of life and its performance has been fine tuned to perfection. eSports players and pro gamers are going to love the highly configurable and accurate sensor and at this price range it is going to prove to be some very fierce competition for products from Zowie, Steelseries and Razer to name but a few.
I’ve been an avid user of laser mice for a long time now and I haven’t really looked back on the world of infrared, but the Theron has rekindled that interest and shown me that there is still a lot of fun to be had with the technology.
The older Theron is still a great mouse and one that is certainly worth your consideration, but where that was awarded our Bang For Buck award I feel there is no other choice but to give the Theron Infrared out Gamers Choice Award.
