If you’re on a tighter budget, the Atlas One is available for around £40, and it’s a very nice headset too. However, if you’re after a big sound, more features, and thumping bass, the Atlas Three ticks all the right boxes at £69.99. The flagship Elite Atlas is £88.99, making the Three the middle child of the family, although it does give you the best price vs performance ratio of the three.
Once again, Turtle Beach has done a superb job with their latest headset. They’ve changed almost nothing from the last generation of the amplified headsets, but it’s still a welcome improvement regardless. The headset looks and feels smarter, and more refined thanks to being all blacked out now. You could comfortably wear it outside without attracting too much attention to yourself.
As usual, the drivers in this headset pack some serious punch. Turtle Beach has been using great quality drivers for years now, and I’m happy to report that hasn’t changed. The big impact here comes from the built-in amplifier. It helps you fine tune the listening experience to what you’re doing. Furthermore, it gives you the amplification you need to get a big boost in volume and power to those capable drivers.
Turtle Beach may not be that creative when it comes to new aesthetic designs, often using near identical moulds from one headset to the other sometimes. However, it’s their look, and it’s easy to see this is a Turtle Beach headset at first glance. Plus, their designs work well, and if it isn’t broken, don’t fix it. The inclusion of a large battery (built-in), it provides all-day performance, and charges quickly enough. I like that there are extra cables included, but if I could, I’d have the stock 3.5mm cable as detachable so you can replace it easily if it becomes damaged.
The Atlas Three ticks so many boxes, that it would be hard to find something it isn’t well suited for. It’ll work on all major consoles, mobile devices, PC’s, and much more. With the inclusion of the built-in amp, you’re always going to have your powerful sound and custom EQ regardless of which device you connect to; no software, no fuss, it’s all built-in. Highly recommended for anyone that wants to put the “wow factor” back in their gaming audio without spending a fortune.
