Turtle Beach Stealth 420X Xbox One Gaming Headset Review

Final Thoughts

Price

The Turtle Beach 420X Xbox One and Mobile gaming headset is available directly from Turtle Beach for £150. The headset is currently pre-order only but it is launching this week, so keep an eye on your local retailer for deals. We’ll also update this section with prices from our preferred retailers, as soon as stock becomes available.

Overview

The Ear Force Stealth 420X is another great addition to the Turtle Beach range, it packs a good range of features that makes it a tempting option, especially for those who can’t afford the premium price tag of the 800X. The 800X came with a magnetic charging dock, more settings and mobile controller profiles to name but a few features, it’s a fantastic headset and you do get a lot for your money, but for £150, the 420X still offers fantastic acoustic performance, great build quality and while the USB cable isn’t as fancy as the 800X’s charging dock, it still does the job.

Build quality feels really good overall. The headset is surprisingly light and flexible, especially so given that it’s wireless and has batteries built-in, but Turtle Beach have mastered durable and lightweight designs, so the 420X should stand up to a few tough knocks and bumps without much concern.

The price is a little high, maybe just high enough to put some people off of a purchase, but let’s keep in mind what’s on offer here. The headset uses a USB dongle to setup, making it plug and play ready with minimal effort and zero cables. There’s a built-in 15 hour battery that’s easily recharged, for completely wireless gaming. There’s not one, but two microphones on offer, one for mobile and one for gaming, not forgetting multiple audio profiles, game and chat volume controls and more! That’s a pretty good range of features and goes a long way to justifying the price tag.

Pros

  • Good build quality
  • Smart looking design
  • Detachable microphone
  • In-line controller/microphone for mobile use
  • Separate volume controls for game audio/chat
  • Wireless
  • Rechargeable

Cons

  • None

“The Turtle Beach 420X is a little expensive, but you do get great performance and a good range of features that easily help justify the cost. If you’re after a great quality wireless gaming headset, this should be right at the top of your list.”
