US Retailer Starts Aggressively(?) Price Cutting High-End Nvidia 30XX GPUs

With the release of Nvidia’s new 40XX graphics cards expected for around October/November this year, it seems pretty clear that, sooner or later, prices for their current-gen 30XX models will start to fall (and possibly quite significantly) in the very near future. – For the moment though, despite the fact that stock is pretty amazing right now, for many 30XX GPUs, prices are not dropping anywhere near as quickly as many believe they should.

Following a report via Videocardz, however, NewEgg in America may be among the first to start breaking ranks as in just the last two weeks, huge discounts have been spotted for many Nvidia 30XX graphics cards.

Nvidia 30XX GPUs – Significant Price Cuts Are Finally Starting?

We should note that, for the moment, most price cuts appear to be getting initially applied to Nvidia’s higher-end of 30XX graphics cards. So, in other words, think 3080 upwards. With that being said though, NewEgg has price cut the 3080 Ti twice in the last fortnight with it now available for just $899. And remember, this isn’t a Founders Edition card. These discounts are hitting AIB partner cards such as, for example, the model above from MSI.

In what appears to have been a moment of fevered madness, even Amazon US briefly listed a Zotac 3090 for only $999.99. Yes, that’s still a lot of money, but lest we forget that this is a GPU that, by most comparative standards, is still being listed for upwards of $1300.

What Do We Think?

As noted above, the biggest frustration for consumers at the moment is that with stock finally being pretty good for all major current-gen models, price drops are proving to be significantly more stubborn. With both the Nvidia 40XX and AMD Radeon 7000 GPUs less than 2-3 months away though, we’re getting to a point now where, sooner or later, all retailers are simply going to have to blink and, likely in conjunction with Nvidia, start applying some really meaningful discounts.

Lest we forget, no retailer is going to want masses of current-gen stock immediately leading up to the release of next-gen models. With this news though, it seems that, finally, meaning discounts might finally be on the way!
