Viper V550 Optical Ambi Gaming Mouse Mouse Review

Performance

The mouse is RGB, there’s no hiding that fact. Furthermore, it’s certainly hard to hide when you see a multi-light strip down the left side, another on the right, the RGB logo on the back, and an RGB scroll wheel. There are a lot of lights here. However, they’re all quite slim, tucked into the lower sides, and not as in your face as some mice can be.

Control

The best thing on this mouse for me is the ambidextrous design. I can play ambidextrous, by which I mean I suck at gaming as much with either hand. I tend to use right handed mostly though. However, having the extra side buttons are fantastic for macros and additional shortcuts. Again, you don’t have to be ambidextrous to benefit from an ambidextrous design.

Not that their old mice felt spongy, but this one feels pretty tight and responsive. It’s got really nice and tactile switches. They’re not overly loud when clicked, but they give a nice feedback that gives them good precision; even when frantically clicking in MOBA games.

Glide

The Viper V550 glides really well. It’s slip mats aren’t huge, but they’re well placed and it seems just as adept on softer surfaces as it does on hard mats. So don’t feel you’ll be tied to one surface, it’s pretty versatile.

Sensor

The sensor is as good as they come, and that’s saying something. It’s hard to find a bad sensor these days, the market has evolved so much even just in the last five years. There’s no angle snapping, there’s no acceleration or deceleration issues, nothing. Even up to the 5000 DPI maximum there’s not a flaw in the motion. You can boost it to 10000 DPI in the software if you wanted, but I guess you can do that in Windows Mouse Settings too if you wanted to boost the speed. That’s really up to you though.

Overall, it’s pretty flawless. It’s a nice upgrade on their older models, and you can feel the evolution in their range with this mouse. They get better every single year.

So it's no wonder I write about tech and test the latest hardware while I enjoy my hobbies!
