You can become the proud owner of Western Digital’s WD Black 1TB NVMe SSD for £365.03 or $399.15 at the time of this review.
At the core, Western Digital’s new drive, the WD Black PCIe NVMe M.2 drive, is quite simple. It is a PCB with some chips, as any other M.2 module. The classic design and M.2 2280 form factor make it compatible with close to any system; whether it’s a portable or stationary system. While that’s true, WD did a nice extra touch to the drive by making the PCB black. It compliments the drive name and it looks good.
The WD Black PCIe drive is without a doubt one of the best drives I’ve ever tested and definitely the best in an M.2 form factor. The race isn’t even close for the competition as the WD Black beats them by miles. It is a seriously impressive drive! WD shows us what their technology can do with this full in-house production.
On top of the performance, you also get a long warranty and good endurance rating. Both are things we welcome.
As a WD SSD owner, you can download the SSD toolbox which will help you manage and keep track of your drive’s health. As a bonus, you can download Acronis True Image in a WD edition too. With it, you can easily clone, backup, and restore one drive to another.
“Western Digital breaks through our charts with the WD Black PCIe NVMe M.2 SSD. It is an amazing drive which could boost your system’s performance to a whole new level.”
We would like to thank Western Digital for this sample.
