Witcher 3’s Blood and Wine Expansion to Include a New Gwent Faction

Witcher 3’s combat system and gameplay are both incredibly fun and rewarding, but there is another side to this game that quite a few people usually skip on. At first, I also skipped on Gwent almost completely, mostly because I just couldn’t be bothered with learning the rules. However, even though Gwent is incredibly easy to learn, it’s not as easy to master, and that’s exactly what makes it so appealing. The upcoming expansion for The Witcher 3, Blood and Wine, will include a brand new Gwent faction, namely Skellige, and it will feature cards and creatures based on characters encountered solely on the islands.
The announcement was made by CD Projekt RED at a PAX East 2016 panel, during which the developers have also showcased a few of the actual cards. Witcher 3 fans were also treated to a presentation of an early prototype of the Gwent mini-game, which included cards such as Triss, Ciri, Vernon Roche and others. If you never go around to learning how to play Gwent, the new Blood and Wine expansion offers a perfect opportunity to do so, especially since this is the game’s last expansion, which means that Gwent is not likely to receive any more updates after that.
