WWE Asking Fans Which Classic Games to be Remastered!

wwe

The golden age of wrestling is always a heated discussion but growing up I have very fond memories seeing The Rock, Stone Cold Steve Austin, The Undertaker and more become involved in gripping storylines. Furthermore, video games like WWF No Mercy on the Nintendo 64 and WWF Smackdown on the PlayStation revolutionized the genre. WWF Smackdown in particular, implemented realistic commentary, and fantastic character customization. Sadly, the modern WWE titles haven’t really piqued my interest or provided a thoroughly exciting experience. I’m still surprised how well the older games hold up providing you can look past the blocky graphics. Only recently, I decided to fire up WCW Mayhem, and spent hours fighting old foes with chairs, tables, Kendo sticks and anything else within touching distance!

In an ideal world, I’d love to see any of the classics revamped with HD graphics, achievements, and mod support. In a rather surprising move, the WWE is polling fans to gauge the popularity of older games and judge whether they are fit for the remaster treatment. Unfortunately, the list is a bit limited and doesn’t include WWF Attitude or the Smackdown games. However, WWF No Mercy is included, and I’m fairly confident this will win the vote by a significant margin.

  1. The last one I can remember playing and liking was WCW vs NWO world tour. The other ones were nice, but I enjoyed having a simpler control scheme and skill was more timing based. Once They made them more like fighting games with more complex combos I gave up, I always enjoyed playing with quite a few wrestlers and it was just too much to learn when you prefer playing with lots of characters.
