Xbox Game Pass Being Slipped Into BT Customer Internet Bills

Nobody likes an unknown additional charge with their bills, you pay what you need and don’t expect anything more on top. Well unfortunately for some BT customers, Xbox Game Pass was slipped into their internet bill without their consent.
Xbox Game Pass Snuck Into Internet Bills
As reported by the BBC, customers to British Telecom (BT) were finding an extra £10 per month charge added to their internet bill which was paying for an Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscription which is quite worrying especially during a cost of living crisis. The reasoning for these charges hasn’t been fully disclosed but was vaguely mentioned by a customer service rep that “this was an issue between BT and Microsoft, where this was being kind of randomly enabled and activated on people’s accounts.”. Vigilant customers noticed the email below stating that “your subscription is ready” and a thank you for activating your Xbox Game Pass Ultimate Subscription.
Fortunately BT have been quick to fix the issue for those affected, but that is only those vigilant enough to notice leaving some people down £10/month. Apparently the issue dates back as far as October 2023 with the most recent report being on Tuesday so it’s unclear how this hasn’t been resolved yet, but then again, internet providers like a sneaky hidden charge.
If you’re with BT, have a check to make sure you’ve not been caught out.
