Zotac Gaming RTX 2080 Ti Amp Review

Overclocking, Noise, Heat and Power

This card does come with a factory boosted clock, but with such a big cooler on there, I’m sure there was going to be more performance to be found. Of course, the card will likely run a little hotter and noisier, but if you want more bang for your buck, this is how you get it.

I managed to get a respectable 170 MHz increase on the core clock, with the card freezing in 3DMark at anything above that. Much like the RTX 2080, the RTX 2080 Ti was happy to push the memory quite high. It accepted a nice 700 MHz boost. The end result is that our 3DMark Score of 35326 with a graphics score of 26893 boosted to 35434 and 27402 respectively. That’s not a huge gain, but keep in mind just how fast this card already is out of the box. That score also puts it around 7000 points ahead of the RTX 2080, and a whopping 12214 points ahead of the VEGA 64; yikes!

Acoustic Performance

The triple fan setup on this card is variable in speed but typically tends to prefer a higher fan curve for more robust cooling performance. You could lower this, but it’s not overly noisy. 48 dBa isn’t painfully loud and wouldn’t an issue in a chassis. However, as I said, you could comfortably put it in silent mode if you really wanted to. Even when we overclocked, the fans didn’t work any harder, as this card is already setup to be pushed pretty hard.

Thermal Performance

It may not be the best-looking cooler ever, but it’s very effective when it comes down to it. The core was practically freezing cold at just 61c at load. Overclocking pushed that to 64c. You could light a fire under this card and it would still stay cool as far as I’m concerned.

Power Consumption

The power consumption is quite high, but I would argue it’s hardly power that’s going to waste. It’s turning watts into FPS and I’m happy with that. There are reports that the chipset is running a little rich at idle though, and may improve with future drivers, so take these numbers with two pinches of salt until we can retest and confirm this.
