Zowie EC1-A Competitive Gaming Mouse Review

Final Thoughts

Price

The Zowie EC1-A is available from Overclockers.co.uk for just £49.99, a modest price for a mouse that offers such incredible performance. Of course, there’s not a lot of features here for the money, but the quality and performance are more than enough to justify the price tag.

Overview

The Zowie EC1-A is by far on the best mice I’ve ever tested. I could argue that others are better because they have more buttons, or programmable buttons or just simply more of something, because the Zowie EC1-A doesn’t really have a lot of anything. To the untrained eye, the EC1-A is a pretty basic product, with very little features and in a way, that is true. However, this mouse may offer the basic features, but it’s designed for eSports and the less things there are, the less things there are to go wrong overall. When you’re in a tournament, playing for a huge cash prize, you don’t want to accidentally trigger a button you don’t need, you don’t want your sensor to let you down, you don’t want anything to get in your way; this is what the EC1-A is for.

The sensor performance is absolutely incredible. No matter what DPI setting you lock in, you’ll find the Zowie EC1-A is always perfectly controllable, accurate and easy to use. While this has big rewards for those who are gaming, especially those who play FPS titles where lining the crosshair up on your target wants to be pixel perfect, it’s just as great for those who want to get some work done. If you do a lot of precision work in Photoshop, or any editing software for that matter, then you’ll love the silky smooth sensor performance of this mouse.

If you want flashy lights, crazy designs, a huge bank of macro keys, complex software for dialing in profiles and all that other stuff, get a different mouse. If you want a mouse that you plug in and it works perfectly from your first game till your last, buy the EC1-A.

Pros

  • Exceptional sensor performance
  • Focused design
  • Durable build quality
  • Spare slip-mats included
  • Excellent glide
  • Ergonomic shape
  • Lightweight cable

Cons

  • None

“Zowie has proven a big hit with the eSports community and the EC1-A is a prime example of why. If you need a great gaming mouse at a competitive price, then the EC1-A needs to be at the top of your shopping list.”
