ADATA 500 Series S510 120GB SSD Review

There are many flash based storage manufacturers out there that give us a wide array of products to choose from and in particular solid state drives. Within the SSD sector of the market, most of the share is taken up by the larger companies such as Kingston, Intel, Crutial and Corsair to name but a few. But these aside, there are still some smaller companies that some may have not heard of that produce similar products.

ADATA is one example of the smaller manufacturers producing top end products that pit themselves alongside the bigger brands. As mentioned, ADATA is a smaller company in respect only employing 20 people when they started out in 2001. This is not to say that they don’t have the same prospects and are there to flood the market with cheaper products. If anything the scenario couldn’t be anymore different. When they started out, their main focus was producing DRAM modules and this then soon branched out to other flash based products such as SSDs like we have here today.

Based around the SandForce SF-2281 controller ADATA’s 500 series SSDs are top of their SSD product line and are here to offer 6Gbps performance at an affordable price. Whether this means that there is to be a huge pitfall in the real world speeds or not is what we are here to find out and if there is, how they have managed to offset this slight downside to the S510 series drives.
