3DMark
When paired with the Gigabyte G1 Gaming GTX 980Ti, the APU attains a commendable score although it’s behind the AMD A10-7850K again for some unknown reason. To clarify this, I ran the benchmark multiple times and didn’t encounter a different result. As you can see, there’s not a monumental change when switching between the various processors at stock settings, but a huge improvement occurs once the AMD A10-7870K is configured to 4.5GHz.
Rise of the Tomb Raider
The AMD A10-7870K provides a major performance boost compared to competing products and manages to uphold a slightly higher frame-rate after being overclocked. Honestly, the gap is larger than I expected and demonstrates the APU’s good credentials in demanding titles.
Shadow of Mordor
In direct contrast to the previous result, the Intel Pentium G3220 forged ahead by a country mile. This is slightly puzzling and raised some questions during the testing phase. To reiterate the information was correct, I re-ran all the benchmarks again and everything remained within the initial range. Perhaps, the game’s engine favours Intel processors or relies more on single-threaded performance.
