The Ryzen 3 1200 is super affordable at just £105, which is £20 less than the 1300X, but it still keeps a good pace to its slightly more expensive counterpart, even at stock value. What’s interesting is that we got the overclock to a very nice 3.8 GHz and that really closed the gap between the two. For whatever reason, it actually scored slightly higher than the 1300X while overclocked.

This test is very GPU bound, but as you can see, the R3 1200 is keeping a great score, even beating the 5960X at both stock and OC values.

Overclocked
At stock clocks, it’s a good score, and general office tasks are going to run very nicely. While overclocked, the R3 1200 is extremely close to the performance of the 1300X, which is great to see.

This is a humble quad core without added thrills, so it does struggle with heavy computation workloads. If this is the kind of work you’ll be doing on your CPU, something like an R5 or R7 would be better suited. Amazingly though, overclocking cut a staggering 74 seconds from the compute time!

Overclocked
A rendering CPU this is not, but it’s still competitive with the 1300X, and that’s no bad thing. Once again, overclocking brought the R3 1200 very close to the slightly faster 1300X.

Overclocked
As above, this humble quad core doesn’t fair well with heavy rendering tasks. It’ll get the job done, but you may want to go put the coffee on for big jobs.
