From the top of the Accelero Xtreme 7970 we can see the triple 92mm Arctic fans in action. All blow fresh cool air down through the dense aluminium heatsinks below. The traditional black and white Arctic colour scheme looks really good, although we are not too sure about the multi-coloured fan cable on the third fan – it spoils the aesthetic somewhat.
From the bottom of the cooler you can see the five 6mm heatpipes which stretch from the direct contact copper base plate to either end of the cooler through a dense network of 84 aluminium heat dissipation fins. Helpfully all three PWM 92mm fans connect to the graphics card PCB via a single 3 pin fan connector.
The GPU contact plate comes with a square of pre applied thermal interface material. As you can see the base is not totally flat because there is a raised square on contact plate that is specifically shaped to make contact with AMD GPUs that this card is compatible with. The mounting bracket comes pre-attached and has all the holes required for an easy mount.
Arctic’s Accelero Xtreme 7970 doesn’t add excessive amounts of size to your graphics card. In fact your HD 7970 will still be CrossFireX compatible even with the cooler installed and will only take up two PCI slots like it did with the stock cooler on.
