Arctic Introduces Threadripper-Specific Freezer33 TR Cooler

Cooling manufacturer Arctic is releasing an AMD Ryzen Threadripper-specific version of their Freezer33. The heatsink is called the Freezer33 TR and it looks slightly different from the regular Freezer33 air coolers. For one, its base is significantly longer to account for the Threadripper CPU’s massive integrated heatspreader. The Freezer33 TR like the regular Freezer33, uses direct contact copper heatpipes at the base. This is the most cost-effective design for air coolers and is typical of sweet-spot price-performance heatsinks.

Aside from the modified base, the Freezer33 TR sports a very AMD red trim color. Although this is mostly on the fan. The actual heatsink body is fully painted black (aside form the contact base). A single fluid dynamic bearing Bionix F120 fan handles the active cooling and operates between 200 to 1800 RPM via PWM controls. Together with the 4x 6mm thick heatpipes and 49 x 0.4mm thick aluminum radiator, the Freezer33 TR can handle a recommended 200W TDP (max 320W TDP).

Surprisingly, the Threadripper-specific Arctic Freezer33 TR costs $2 less than the same fluid-dynamic bearing Freezer33 at $47.99 USD vs $49.99 USD. It is now available worldwide via Arctic.ac or select re-seller networks.
