Gears of War 4 has some of the best optimisation in recent memory and scales beautifully on numerous hardware configurations. The ASUS STRIX GAMING RX 480 OC maintains an average frame rate well above 60 during 1080p testing. Interestingly, the GTX 980 attains a better result which is somewhat surprising. Once the resolution is set to 2560×1440, the performance is excellent and not too far away from reaching a 60 frames per second average. This time, the GPU surpasses the GTX 980. As expected, the frame rate plummets alongside a 4K monitor.
