be quiet! Pure Base 600 Mid-Tower Chassis Review

Final Thoughts

Price

The be quiet! Pure Base 600 is available is available from most major retailers on pre-order for £79.99. This is pretty decent value for money given the build quality on offer, as well as the fact it comes bundled with two high-end be quiet! Pure Wings 2 fans! There are two models available, the black one we reviewed today, and one silver one, which is still black but features silver trim on the front air intakes.

Overview

be quiet! haven’t released a bad chassis yet, sure they’ve only released a few, but it seems they’ve really put the effort into every single one of them. While this is their cheapest chassis yet, it’s clear there haven’t been too many compromises in design, as the build quality feels fairly robust, and while a little bland, the overall finish gives off a premium quality vibe.

Speaking of it looking bland, that’s obviously subjective, but I think that was the whole point of this design. Not everyone wants a windowed LED behemoth for their gaming rig, and I’m certain most people don’t want that in an office or any professional environment. If you’re looking for something that looks smart, blends in easily, and offers you virtually silent performance, then this is where you get it. If you want something a little more “gamer” focused, be quiet have their more outlandish Silent Base and Dark Base series, albeit at higher prices compared to the Pure Base.

Component compatibility is pretty standard here, nothing too crazy. We had to move the HDD bay to make way for the long GPU, and would likely have to remove one entirely for a multi-GPU configuration; this all depends on the length of your expansion cards, obviously. Having two 2.5″ drive mounts behind the motherboard is a welcome bonus though, especially if you want to put a thick radiator in the front panel, but don’t expect to fit more than a slim radiator in the top section, as the chassis isn’t particularly tall.

When it comes to cooling, the Pure Base 600 has plenty of airflow through the front and bottom panels, with dust filters on each to ensure your system stays nice and clean. The addition of the raising and removable top panel is a welcome bonus too, allowing extra airflow without leaving the top panel completely exposed. Finally, the inclusion of the three-speed fan controller gives you the choice between silent performance and increased airflow, which is handy for watching a movie at night, or keeping your GPU cool while gaming, it’s totally up to you.

Pros

  • Good build quality
  • Neat and tidy exterior design
  • Built-in fan controller
  • Two high-quality fans pre-installed
  • Modular HDD bays
  • SSD mounts behind motherboard
  • Adjustable top panel cover
  • Trusted and respected brand name
  • 3-year warranty

Cons

  • None

Neutral

  • Cable routing space isn’t amazing, but it’s workable

“The Pure Base 600 may be the most affordable be quiet! chassis to date, but it still delivers their stylish design, durable build quality and a robust range of features that continue to add value for money. A great chassis for those who want something understated and silent.”
