Cocoon Home Security Camera Review

Final Thoughts and Pricing

Pricing

At the time of this review, you can grab the Cocoon HD All-In-One camera for £149 on Amazon.

Final Thoughts

I’ve reviewed various surveillance systems in the past, but none of them were as quick and easy to set up as the Cocoon. It truly is as easy to set up and use as it’s possible to be. Connect it to a power outlet, install the mobile app, and that’s basically it.

The unique feature of the Cocoon is the Subsound system which learns from your behaviour and what sounds are normal in your home. It takes about a week for the camera to learn, and during that time you’ll still get some wrong alerts. For example, when TV shows or movies start, the intro is louder than normal. Such events triggered a few false events for me in the beginning. But after having it running a while, there were no more wrong alerts. Not from any sound made by my appliances and not by my cat either. That’s something that can save a lot of time and annoyances as you won’t be bombarded by false events all day long.

Video and Sound Quality

Cocoon records 720p HD video in H.264. With it, you get a clear picture of what’s going on in your home – at day and at night. With the unique Subsound system, it’s already clear that you get great sound too.

All the recorded videos are stored in a free 7-day cloud setup which isn’t something you should worry about. Everything is well encrypted with 256-bit AES. The system is also bandwidth conserving as Cocoon only pushes videos to the cloud when there is an alert. The only downside is the download of these videos. While it’s quick, it’s limited to three videos per week. Without local storage, that could become troublesome for people who want to use it for more than home-protection. However, it’s completely free without any subscription fees.

Additional Bonus Feature

Cocoon works with Alexa too, allowing you to include it in your smart-home setup. You can arm Cocoon with your voice when leaving your home instead of doing it manually or by location.
