Cooler Master Masterkeys Pro M RGB Keyboard Review

Performance

Equipped with Cherry MX Blue switches, we know straight off the bad that we’re going to get flawless switch performance from this keyboard. The typing action is absolutely fantastic and if you love that click response you get from the MX Blue switches and don’t mind the added noise from them, then you’ll love this keyboard. The switches are RGB too, so they use clear housing, and there’s a reflective white base plate to allow for cool under-lighting effects.

Power on the keyboard and you’re treated to a lovely pre-set gaming profile with the lighting.

There are loads of built-in profiles too, such as this colour cycle mode that fades slowly through a range of gorgeous colours. Of course, you can set any colour you want as always on, on any key, at any brightness level to suit your taste.

Prefer something a little more reactive? This mode sends out ripples of lights from the last struck key.

Gaming while the boss isn’t looking? Snake comes built right into the keyboard, just use the arrow keys to move the snake to collect the dot, the snake is blue with a red head and the dot you need to collect is green in the image below… may have spent a lot of time on this when I should have been working this week, thanks CM!

The per key lighting effects are awesome, just hit the FN-Shift and LED keys, then use F1-3 to tap in your colour selection and brightness, hit the keys you want to be that colour, rinse, repeat, save. This means you can make awesome custom patterns like the one below!

Overall, this keyboard is awesome for typing on, as you would expect from a premium mechanical keyboard. The shorter 90% design takes up less desktop space, giving your mouse more freedom, and you still get the perks of a full-size number pad too. Another interesting addition, the number pad has a single and double zero, anyone who does financial work will know this is a nice thing to have. Gaming is a lot of fun, the keyboard is perfect to use for any game type, but it’s just as competent in the office too, great for those who work and game on the same system like I do.
