Cooler Master MK770 Gaming Keyboard Review

A Closer Look

This is one amazing looking keyboard, with a bit of a modern take on retro look about it, mixing the black with a light grey and some hints of purple really makes it grab your attention.

It also keeps the focus on the different key functions, with the black keys mostly showing the modifier keys, and the grey keys being the typical alphabet and numerical keys. There’s support here for PC and Mac too, with some keys showing icons for both operating systems, and the Z, X and C keys allow hot switching between multiple Bluetooth devices.

On 1-4 you’ll find profile keys, allowing you to configure macros, lighting and shortcuts and set them to each profile, allowing you to hot swap between those for various gaming and work scenarios.

It’s a full-size keyboard, sort of, with all the major keys present such as the number, but the main navigation keys above the arrows have been stripped out and the numberpad moved left to give it a sort of 75% design, but retaining more like 95% of the functionality.

There are even some media keys tucked into the arrow keys, of course, all the secondary features are easy enough to access, as you simply hold down the Fn-Shift key.

The top row is strange though, with the delete key now about the backspace key, but you still get PgUp and PgDn above the arrow keys, but honestly, I’d rather have them like this than not have them.

In the corner, there’s a textured metal wheel that can be used to control the volume, but it’s programmable, and clickable too.

Down the side, there are some cool-looking details, with the angled blend of grey and black, as well as a little Cooler Master tag in purple.

And it’s the same design on the other side too.

Around the back, there’s a small panel of black, where you’ll find the input and connectivity switch.

The keyboard accepts a Type-C cable, so you can easily use an after-market one if you so desire, and there’s a switch to toggle between Wireless, USB and Bluetooth modes. leaving it in the middle position also turns the keyboard off when no cable is connected for wired/charging.

On the underside, you’ll find four colour master themed purple grips,

So it's no wonder I write about tech and test the latest hardware while I enjoy my hobbies!
