Cooler Master MK770 Gaming Keyboard Review

How Much Does it Cost?

The Cooler Master MK770 Gaming Keyboard is available now from Cooler Master, with a list price of $119.99 and while I couldn’t see UK stock, it is available from their web store and on Amazon US for the same price. That’s not “cheap” but for the features and quality on offer, I certainly think it’s competitive, especially given the overall quality and unique aesthetic on offer. I suspect more UK stock will turn up soon enough though, so it’s worth shopping around if you’re eager to order one.

Overview

Cooler Master is one of the biggest and most recognisable brands in the PC components market, with award-winning cases, coolers, power supplies, monitors, peripherals and much more spanning way back before I ever started reviewing their products 12 years ago. With that in mind, it’s easy to see why this keyboard is so great, as Cooler Master keyboards have often been the best made and unique on the market, and the MK770 certainly lives up to that reputation.

It’s also just nice to see something different, with many brands having a black keyboard or a white keyboard, throwing a switch type in and some RGB and calling it done. Of course, that’s fine too, and there are a lot of great keyboards out there even if they are all a bit similar. However, with its unique form factor and colours, the MK770 certainly stands out from the crowd, and I think that’s going to give it quite a lot of appeal in the PC enthusiast market.

When it comes to build quality, while much of the keyboard is plastic, it’s extremely robust and well-made. Everything feels pretty chunky, and there’s a good weight to the keyboard. It’s not been left holo either, as it’s packed with layers of gaskets and noise isolation materials to prevent it from sounding too noisy and that also soaks up the vibrations while you’re working and gaming.

The USB Type-C cable is braided and of good quality, but you could easily use your own aftermarket USB cable too if you like. Of course, the keyboard is also wireless and has Bluetooth so you’re spoilt for choice on how you use it. This also means it’s compatible with MAC OS, Windows devices, consoles, mobile devices and more, which adds to the overall usability and versatility on offer.

Should I Buy One?

With a unique form factor, stunning RGB lighting, durable build quality, and some of the best switches on the market that are fast and light, but also have a light click response that makes them very enjoyable to type on, this keyboard really does tick all the right boxes. While the design may not be to everyone’s taste, I think it’s great to see something that stands out from the crowd aesthetically but still has the premium build quality and performance one would expect in this price range. Highly recommended!
