Cooler Master Silencio S400 Silent mATX Case Review

Interior

The Cooler Master Silencio S400, as I said before, is robust. Taking off the side panel is easy enough, but damn is it a heavy for such a small panel. Normally side panels bend and wobble in your hands, but not this one. Again, more isolation materials here too.

As you can see, there’s room for an ATX motherboard in the S400. There’s a PSU shroud too, which is awesome. However, the clever design is that the side of the PSU shroud is the outside of the chassis, hence the split panel design is seen above. Fewer materials wasted this way, it just makes sense.

The shroud is simple enough though, it hides the PSU and a load of cables. Although, Cooler Master gave it a few cable routing holes, SSD mounts, and a front cooling clearance cut-out; not too shabby really.

What’s that strange thing up there? Why it’s a 5.25″ drive bay! Why I haven’t seen one of those in ages, but I’m sure many will still welcome its inclusion.

There’s a lot of cable routing space and grommets throughout the interior. It looks like a really easy case to work with. Plus, all of the motherboard standoffs are pre-installed, which makes my life easier.

The right side panel is tough as heck too. It also has a load of material stuck to it just like every other panel on the case.

Behind that, there’s a surprisingly large amount of cable routing space. Not that you need so much, as the PSU shroud will hide all the cable gore easily enough too.

A couple of HDD bays are located in the base too, out of sight, out of mind.

Plus, two more SSD mounts behind the motherboard, giving us four of them in total, plus the 3.5″ bays under the shroud.

The main I/O panel is located on the right edge of the top panel, so all the cables are somewhat neatly pre-routed from there.

The USB 3.0 ports are blacked out, keeping those looking neat. Plus, there’s an SD card reader built-in, which is an awesome bonus.
