Corsair Dark Core RGB Pro Mouse Review

A Closer Look

The mouse looks absolutely stunning, with a strange mixture of a really aggressive stance and a textured finish on some sections that looks like a quilted toilet paper. It does look fantastic though, and the glossy blacks really stand out from the more matte finish of the old model. However, you still get the two extra side buttons on the top.

The top section has more of that weird quilted look. It’s just like we saw on the old model and it looks and feels fantastic. There’s a Corsair logo stuck in there too, which is also one of the RGB lighting zones.

The mouse has been slightly tweaked here too, with a reshaped recess for the scroll wheel and an extra switch. The grip on the wheel is now textured to match the texture on the mouse, but also softer. There’s also an LED indicator in front of that programmable switch, which wasn’t present on the old model.

There are little strips of LED lighting built into the wheel too, of course, but as you’ll see when we turn the power on, the Dark Core has 7 zones for you to customise.

There’s quite an aggressive sweep to the mouse, ensuring a more comfortable fit for right-handed use. I really wouldn’t recommend it for left-handed use at all.

The ergonomics are improved greatly with this huge wing on the side, allowing a very comfortable thumb rest so your hand doesn’t drag on te desk. the side buttons are nice and large too, making them very easy to control. Plus, you get three indicator lights towards the front of the mouse too.

Glide certainly won’t be an issue, with massive Teflon pads all over the bottom of the mouse. Plus, you’ll find their lovely new optical sensor and the connectivity switch. Towards the front, there’s a large recess, allowing you to snugly fit the USB C cable too.

With the cable fitted, the mouse looks and feels, well, like a cabled mouse. You could leave it like this and be very happy with it if you so desired. Handy too, as you can change and play.

For this review, however, I’ll be sticking to the sub 1ms response times of their amazing Slipstream technology.
