Corsair Dark Core RGB Pro Mouse Review

Setup & Performance

Corsair is a market leader when it comes to RGB technology, so it’s no surprise that they’ve amped up the lighting performance of the new model. They’ve increased the number of unique lighting zones, allowing for more in-depth customisation. Of course, it’s all customisable through the iCUE software and compatible with all other Corsair RGB products.

Without a doubt, the colours are bright, vivid and really rich. Plus, you’ve got every effect, fade, and transition you could ever need. There’s loads of built-in presets to tinker with, as well as extremely extensive customisation options for those who live to RGB their life.

The RGB looks great, but let’s not forget the rest of the mouse! Two soft textured look and those inky black glossy surfaces provide a nice contrast for the lighting too. It’s a very stylish mouse, and most importantly to me, it’s a very comfortable mouse to hold.

The ergonomics are very nicely dialled in, and I especially like the huge wing on the side. I have quite wide hands and tend to favour a larger mouse because of that. However, this mouse manages to be lighter and more nimble, but the wing still gives it the extra width I desire; the best of both worlds then.

Furthermore, the right-side panel is magnetically mounted.

Included in the box is an alternative wing design that makes the mouse a little wider still. This gives it a really lazy palm rest grip style that’s perfect for those long-hour MMO gaming nights. Think of the posture from the South Park MMO episode.

Which version will fit your hand best is up to you, but in my opinion, it’s one of the most comfortable mice I’ve had in years.

As I said before, the mouse feels quite light and nimble for its size. That makes it great for gaming, as you can make quick direction changes easily, so it’s enjoyable for more fast-paced games such as shooters, even if I do spend most of my own time as an MMO gamer.

The switches are really responsive and have a nice tactile feel to them too. Of course, this is a premium mouse from Corsair, so to expect them to be anything other than premium would have been crazy. I do like the additional buttons though, as they’re perfect for gaming, but I also set them to copy and paste when I’m using photoshop and my review editor for moving elements around.

The sensor on this mouse is bloody fantastic too. The old model was absolutely fantastic to begin with, but this is just better overall. There’s more DPI range, more precision, it’s just better in every way.
