Corsair H100i RGB Platinum CPU Cooler Review

A Closer Look

Out of the box, the Corsair H100i has a solid professional look. Everything is in a sleek black style with the exception of a silver trim to the surround of the pump head block. The pipes leading to the radiator feel well-protected while at the same time more than mailable for any movement necessary in your system. They are a little stiff, but not to the point that you should have any problems.

Pump Block

Anyone familiar with Corsairs AIO design will immediately recognise their pump head design. While it has changed slightly over the years, if the big Corsair logo to the centre doesn’t give it away, the shape and mounting bracket style will.

The contact plate is nice and large and comes with the thermal paste pre-applied. In terms of processor coverage though, this should provide a nice big contact point to help move the heat away from your CPU.

Radiator

The radiator has a nice sleek black design and a nice bold Corsair logo to the side. In terms of design, there is, in truth, very little that makes this any more (or less) remarkable than most 240 cooling radiators. There is, however, something reassuring about this one that speaks of a solidly built product.

Fans

The Corsair H100i RGB Platinum is provided with 2 RGB enabled fans. With them being specifically designed to provide not just lighting, but low operational noise, these again look to have a very professional design.

Overall Design

Based on the overall design, we found it nice and simplistic. As this is an RGB style cooler, there are, clearly, rather a lot of cables. When not fitted to a system this does make this look rather messy and not particularly attractive. When it’s all fitted though, this cooler looks like a solid performer whether the lights are on or off!

RGB Lighting and iCUE

While performance is a key factor in this system, it’s also important to understand how the lighting both looks and operates! In terms of the fans and their RGB operation, this is controlled via Corsairs iCUE software. This can be downloaded directly from their website and provides a full and detailed amount of customisable options for the RGB lighting.

In terms of the lighting effects themselves. We’ve compiled a brief video below showing both the fans and pump head in action!
