D-Link DCS-6517

D-Link has a lot of network cameras available, but now the company has their first camera supporting H.265. The new DCS-6517 is an outdoor dome network camera for high definition professional surveillance and security. The DCS-6517 delivers VARs, security integrators and enterprise users with a reliable surveillance solution.

D-Link DCS-6517 H.265 5MP Dome Network Camera

The DCS-6517 features an improved 5MP sensor and the new support for H.265. The two improvements in combination allow the camera to deliver superior quality video while utilizing less network bandwidth. It supports MJPEG and HEVC too.

The DCS-6517 is suitable for most setups as it is rugged and weatherproof. It features an IP67 rating which is enough for long-term water immersion. With that in mind, a bit of rain or snow shouldn’t be an issue. Setup and connection are made easy with a single cable. Power over Ethernet (PoE) eliminates the need for extra cabling as data and power run through the same cable.

Night-time recordings are no problem either with the built-in smart IR LED illuminators. They have a range of up to 65 feet which allows the camera to keep watch even in complete darkness. The smart function adjusts the power based on an object’s distance in order to avoid washing out.
