DeepCool Assassin 4S CPU Air Cooler Review

A Closer Look

It doesn’t take long to see that this cooler looks a lot like the other new DeepCool coolers. It’s the same premium heatsink design we saw on the Assassin IV, but even the AK620 I reviewed a few weeks back uses this design.

Down the side, you can see there are two cooling towers, which come with a matte black trim around the sides. However, the middle section is where the fan is hidden, and there’s a mesh panel on the side that will allow air to pass through from the sides.

One side of the heatsink has the offset square design, which looks great, but on the exhaust side, there are saw-tooth edges on the fins increasing their surface area and improving their overall heat dissipation.

You can also see through at the right angle, and see those seven thick heatpipes that run up and through both sides of the cooler.

Up on the top of the cooler, you’ll find even more mesh, but this panel is actually clipped in and held with a magnet, allowing you to easily pop it out and access the fan within.

In the top corner, there’s a switch that allows you to toggle normal or silent mode, which is awesome, I love built-in fan controllers that don’t require software.

There’s a DeepCool logo in the corner, on some of their products this is DeepCool green, or even RGB, but it’s just pressed into the plastic here, and I like this more understated look.

With the top removed, you can see the fan is slotted into the middle of the cooler, and there are two clips at the ends locking it into place.

Squeeze the clips, and you can simply lift the whole fan up and out of the way.

With it removed, you can see the two mounting screws in the bottom, hence why DeepCool includes a special long screwdriver to help you easily install it.
