Final Thoughts

Price

Although this product is not currently available for retail in the UK, we expect the Deepcool Gammax L240 to retail for a price in the region of £80-£90. In terms of 240mm coolers, this is about the price you would expect and, for Deepcool, if it errs towards the higher-end of that range, is a little more than you might expect.

You do, however, have to consider that this RGB cooler has a lot more on offer than most models. It would seem that having that sync-capability does add a little to the price and with that in mind, the price is about right!

Design and Ease Of Use

In terms of the aesthetics, the Deepcool Gammaxx L240 is very well presented cooler. The RGB effects are nice, bright and varied enough to attract most people looking for that ‘something special’ in their design. In addition, the nice logo design to the pump head is another added bonus. Even when the RGB is off, the cooler looks very solid in it’s design.

Installation is a nice straightforward process thanks to a very good manual and well-packaged components. If there is a complaint though, it’s the RGB system’s cabling. Specifically, it’s requirement of a sync capable port on your motherboard. While these are fairly common on more recent motherboards, they’re certainly not on older designs. I daresay this is a factor that will catch more than a few people out.

Overview

Deepcool have produced yet another exceptionally solid CPU cooler in the Gammaxx L240. As we said earlier, we are more than familiar with the Gammax range and have never failed to be impressed with their overall quality and design. For the sake of fairness, the performance figures are entirely average. This performs no better or worse than the vast majority of AIO RGB 240mm coolers.

The RGB effects and the high-level of sync capability, however, does tip the scales in favour of the Gammax L240. If we do find it disappointing, it’s only because we’ve been highly-surprised by their other designs/models.

The Deepcool Gammaxx L240 does provide an excellently solid performance for a 240mm cooler and some excellent RGB options. It might not have anything that will blow you away, but it will certainly perform with extreme competence.

Pros

  • Excellent design aesthetics both when the RGB is on and off.
  • Excellent RGB lighting effects which are easy to use.
  • Good performance figures in terms of temperature control.
  • Installation is very straightforward thanks to a good design and excellent manual.

Cons

  • The lack of a manual RGB controller is very disappointing. If you don’t have an RGB sync-capable motherboard (or a SATA adaptor – since one isn’t supplied), you can’t use it to its full potential.

Neutral

  • Cabling might look a little untidy without some decent management.
