DeepCool RGB 360 Magnetic Lighting Kit Review

A Closer Look

One thing I really like about this kit is that it comes with a remote control, meaning you can tweak your system on-the-fly without the need of using an internal USB port on your motherboard, software, clunky mobile apps or any of that stuff. Unfortunately, the remote does feel pretty cheap, there’s no “pop” to the buttons, and it just feels like you’re jabbing your finger on a sticker, as there’s no feedback. That being said, the remote works just fine and looks great, and you can quickly control the mode, brightness, speed (effect change) and colour in seconds with a light touch on the buttons, but I would have preferred something more tactile.

Around the back, it’s a nice glossy finish and takes three AAA batteries, which seems excessive, but it gets the job done.

There’s a small power block that sits inside your system, but it’s compact enough that you should be able to easily hide it out of sight. There’s a small Molex adaptor, which is pretty self-explanatory.

The power block splits into three sections, allowing you to simply plug in 1-3 lighting strips to suit your needs.

There’s also a small extension cable to ensure you can get one of the strips further away, most likely to help with putting one in the top of your case while the power block is in the bottom.

There are three lighting strips included in the box, each with RGB capabilities and all three come with a magnetic back so you can quickly mount them; just keep that in mind if your chassis is mostly plastic, well, you should all know how magnets do and don’t work.

There’s a good density of lights on each strip, and a nice clear top so I’m expecting them to look nice and bright when powered up. Let’s get them installed and see them in action!
