There is little idea of testing the SATA speeds on this enclosure, they are sent directly through. It will perform as good as when connected directly.
But we can take a look at the USB transfer speeds, see how well the enclosure can perform as a mobile SSD station.
The EMK3104 doesn’t support UASP, but the normal USB 3.0 speeds are still miles better than USB 2.0. We should however not expect to see those 400-500MB/s results.
I’ll be putting the enclosure through the usual benchmark tests to see how our Angelbird SSD wrk performs. I usually pick this drive for enclosure testing as it gives us the most information with the least amount of testing, simply due to its performance section. What SSD used to test this enclosure isn’t as relevant without the UASP support, but I’ll still be using the same disk for reference purpose.
