Enermax MaxRevo 1350W Fully Modular Power Supply Review

Enermax are one of the most highly respected PSU manufacturers around and are my own personal choice. They have an excellent track record with all their PSUs from budget to top-end, therefore they have set themselves a very high bar to jump, but I think it is absolutely fair to say that they have achieved it! In many ways, this unit is like the Bugatti Veyron, it is designed to demonstrate what Enermax can do when all the stops are pulled. Like they Veyron, it is a show of engineering genius, not many people are going to buy it as it is aimed at a small market, however it is a flagship just like the Veyron, a huge advertisement and testimony for what Enermax are capable of producing. It is true to say that Enermax take the same basic approach to this unit as they have to their cheaper units such as the NAXN , so people see this tip of the iceburg and know they can have a smaller piece of it by purchasing one of their more mainstream units. Unlike the Veyron, this unit will be a great commercial success in itself and more importantly we know that in a few years Enermax will be able to once again better their flagship unit with another successor, something that I am looking forward to!

Analogies over, we can see that this unit is aimed at the most committed of enthusiasts only which is a reasonably small market. This is the PSU I can see being used by professional overclockers in competitions, overpowered demo rigs at trade shows and that rich nutter you get on every computer forum with a SR-2 with quad-SLI GTX580s. This is the kind of PSU you would ask “But can it play Crisis?”! This unit will cause a stir among professionals and the high-end enthusiast market, but will also give a good name for Enermax which should filter down into increased sales for their more… sensible units for us more discerning folk!

As you can imagine, the only issue is the price, I’ll tell you know that this unit costs around £265. If you think “wow, that’s expensive” then this isn’t the unit for you. This unit is aimed at those who require the outrageous power, quality and reliability that the MaxRevo offers. When you take into consideration what this unit has to offer, the price is quite well justified! This doesn’t get around the fact that most of us can’t afford it, but as I’ve said, this is the equivalent of a supercar, those who can afford it or need it will buy it, while the rest of us can only drool and buy the next best thing! In conclusion, if you are serious about getting the best of the best then this really is the unit for your, but to the vast majority of PC builders out there- take a good look, because this is the closest you will come to seeing one!
