Performance

Installing the Aegis is simple enough, just pull the plastic covers off of the 3M strips and press it into place on your monitor. It doesn’t look like it’ll hold in place very well at first, but I’ve had mine on my monitor for four weeks now and it hasn’t shown any signs of falling off at all. It’s designed to be unobtrusive and the bulk of the Aegis sits slightly behind and to the side of your monitor.

The mouse bungee works easy enough, just press the cable into the slot. I only have a 23″ monitor on my desk, but keep in mind that if you’re using a very tall screen, the mouse cable may not reach all the way up; or it may look silly suspended too high from your desk. While gaming it does a great job of keeping the cable from snagging on my desk, mouse mat or pulling my mouse away from me and that certainly has benefits while gaming.

The Mionix Nash 20 is a pretty heavy headset, but it hangs on the mount with ease. You can also fold the arm 90 degrees backwards and hang the headset behind the monitor; this isn’t an option for me as my monitor is very close to a wall and I would likely scratch my headset on the surface of the wall.

The USB ports are a little tricky to access for me given the placement of my monitor, but on the other hand they’re a lot easier to access than the ones on the back of my rig. When it comes to reviewing a mouse, keyboard or any other peripherals for that matter, using the ports on the Aegis is a lot easier for me. The ports work just fine for flash drives, but obviously lack the same performance you’ll get from directly attaching your storage device to a USB 3.0 port.
