Silent Hill
Silent hill first hit our screens on the PlayStation 1 way back in 1999, for me it was one of the defining moments in gaming, it’s story was simple yet effective, following the life of Harry Mason as he searches for his missing adopted daughter in a foggy and very creepy town, only to get mixed up in cult rituals and plenty of downright evil and messed up scenarios.
The game covered up the PlayStation 1 graphics capabilities with heavy use of fog, only adding to the suspense by limiting your visibility throughout the game, your only indication of enemies being a broken pocket radio that would emit a haunting white noise on their approach, leaving Mr Masons heart beating through the then new Rumble Pad for which you could take control of his very limited ability to defend himself.
