NVIDIA is expected to launch the GeForce GTX 1070 Ti graphics card later this month, pitched to rival AMD’s RX Vega 56. Many are excited about the new card, especially given its rumoured low price. However, an insider gave us some bad news about the 1070 Ti’s overclocking capacity.
NVIDIA GTX 1070 Ti – Can’t be Overclocked
An industry insider told eTeknix that the GTX 1070 Ti can’t be overclocked. In addition, we’ve been informed that NVIDIA will not release any reference cards and all AIB partner cards will be locked to the same speeds. However, price and aesthetics are expected to differ across partner cards.
NVIDIA GTX 1070 Ti – What We Know So Far
The 1070 Ti is rumoured to be undercutting the RX Vega 56’s price by up to $100. In fact, reports suggest the card will cost around $420. In addition, multiple sources point to a 26th October release. Since the Vega 56 – and Vega generally – proved to be a disappointment, the 1070 Ti became highly anticipated. The news that the card can’t be overclocked, though, will heavily dent expectations.

I think the author was a little behind on the pc market, ryzen was far from a disappointment, its because the ryzen line up that intel is releasing 6 core i7 and even released the i9 due to the success of ryzen 7. Overall ryzen far exceeded expectations. As for the vega, well yeah the price with performance was way off and the fact that demand was never met, so yes the vega was a failure.

Ryzen is FAR from a disappointment for everyone but blind Intel fanboys. Even for the Intel fans that aren’t dense Ryzen is a good product and they’ll admit it, they’ll just buy Intel because it’s what they prefer or it suits their needs better.
Ryzen wasn’t a disappointment. Vega, yes, but Ryzen, especially the R7 series, Threadripper, and the R5 1600/X are all very competitive processors.

Probably would be faster than GTX 1080 if it could be overclocked. Nvidia just wants there 1080s to sell at higher price.

Why? They are the better GPUs at this time in gaming performance. Nvidia definitely rules the enthusiast market. AMD are getting better but they aren’t where I want them to be with performance. I had high hopes with Vega but as usual AMD dissapointed at the end. The Fury X was the last AMD GPU I owned and that thing was a huge letdown.

Vega 64 didn’t beat the 1080ti but the Vega 56 is better than the 1070. The only disappointed folks are those who don’t own them because of Crypto currency mining.

You must be referring to a different Ryzen than the rest of the tech journalism world. The general consensus by everyone — Intel and AMD loyalists alike — is that Ryzen was a huge success and surprised everyone with it’s performance, SMT, core count, and multithreaded benchmarks.
I’m not sure if you’re just trolling or are actually that clueless, but baseless statements like that really make you look foolish and undermines whatever credibility you may have.
I’m an Intel user in my gaming PCs and I must admit, I’m impressed with the Ryzen CPUs. Some people always have to be brand loyal and fanboyish

Most people buy these Ti cards to push to their limit….Personally, I feel the 1070 Ti is a waste of money. You can OC the hell out of a regular 1070 but not the Ti model. This has to be one of the dumbest things I’ve seen from Nvidia since GameWorks. I don’t see this card selling very well. Might as well just spend extra and grab the 1080 instead. Plus we all know this 1070 Ti isn’t going to release at the MSRP. Great job Nvidia. Not.

Asley Allen, go home you are drunk. Ryzen is an extremely good performer and nothing but an absolute hit with everybody. It is as far from being a disappointment as you can possibly get.
Saying Vega56 is disappointing is also a stretch, Vega64 certainly is a flop, but Vega56 is rather good its only the pricing that needs fixing.
