H1Z1 Has Lost Around 91% Of It’s Player Base

H1Z1

Releasing around the same time as DayZ was hitting its peak, H1Z1 was, for a while the king of the battle royale game. Of course, in the last year alone PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds and Fortnite have totally dominated this market, but even so, for a little while, H1Z1 was a major player.

There was, coincidentally, one major common factor between H1Z1 and DayZ, they were both terrible.

In a report via PCGamesN, however, H1Z1 might finally be more or less dead, as figures show that in the last 7 months, the game has lost around 91% of its player base.

Players leaving in their droves

At this point, I can already imagine some of you frothing at the mouth regarding my expert analysis of H1Z1 and DayZ. The truth is though, they were both terrible. Saying otherwise is merely kidding yourselves. Yes, of the two H1Z1 was the more complete game, but despite that, the pay-to-win mechanic and massive problems with cheaters was too big for me to overlook.

It is therefore with some irony that this news is announced at the same time that the PUBG developer is struggling to keep the cheaters at bay.

Saying that this game is ruined, I will admit, it perhaps a step too far. The game still regularly features in Steams top 100 games played, list, it is, however, a long way off its peak when it had 150,000+ concurrent players.

It doesn’t either require Sherlock Holmes to deduce where they have all gone. With my cat claws out again, they have frankly gone to better games, PUBG and Fortnite. H1Z1 has only one hope! Going free-to-play! They might as well embrace the mess they’ve made with pay-to-win.

H1Z1’s biggest issue

The biggest issue that H1Z1 has is exactly the same, again, as DayZ. Despite being released for several years now, they are both still in early access.

The delay in actually finishing the games has no doubt marked a significant failure in them being able to capture and hold the initial hype surrounding the games.

If either of those games doesn’t do something soon, I suspect that by this time next year, I’ll be writing their eulogies.

What do you think? Did (or do) you play H1Z1? What do you think of it? Can it be saved? – Let us know in the comments!
