HDR G-Sync Monitors Still Coming This Year

Despite the disappointing news that Acer’s Predator X27 monitor won’t be out this year, NVIDIA insists we’ll still see HDR G-Sync displays before the end of 2017. In addition, Acer rival Asus hopes to get its HDR G-Sync monitor out before the year’s end. The Asus ROG Swift PG27UQ (above) is expected this year. However, a different report suggests Asus’ much-anticipated G-Sync HDR monitor is also delayed until 2o18.

Coming This Year?

Asus and NVIDIA PCGamesN’s Dave James reports:

“We’ve spoken to both Asus and NVIDIA this morning and they’ve assured us that there will still be G-Sync HDR goodness coming this year as Asus are still on track to launch their own, almost-identically specced display this year.”

Asus HDR G-Sync – Not Coming This Year?

PCGamesN’s report, however, is contradicted by PC Gamer. According to PC Gamer’s Paul Lilly, the ROG Swift PG27UQ won’t launch in 2017. Lilly writes:

“Same goes with Asus and its ROG Swift PG27UQ that was announced around the same time. After seeing a Twitter post for Acer announcing the delay of its Predator X27, we reached out to Asus to see where it stood with its own beastly 4K monitor. Sure enough, Asus told us that its monitor will release next year as well. Drats!”

While I’d prefer to believe PCGamesN’s report, it seems Asus’ G-Sync HDR premier offering isn’t coming this year, either. However, that doesn’t mean that Asus won’t spring another such display in the next few months. So, are we really going to see G-Sync HDR in 2017?
