At CES 2022, which is set to kick off in less than a month now, one of the biggest announcements expected to be made at the event is Intel confirming the launch of their desktop gaming Arc Alchemist graphics cards. Yes, a third player is finally set to enter the arena. – Just how good are they really going to be though? Can these new introductory models really achieve something of a pace with AMD and Nvidia?

Well, following the release of an official video, Intel clearly seems to think so as they’ve showcased a number of gaming titles running on an undisclosed Arc Alchemist GPU.

Intel Arc Alchemist – A Potent Gaming GPU Solution?

Now, admittedly, while the video is certainly very glossy, there isn’t much to go on here in terms of details. While some images of products (and one system seemingly containing an Arc Alchemist GPU) can be briefly seen, there are almost certainly renders, and, as such, shouldn’t be read into too deeply.

In terms of the actual gameplay footage, however, it certainly looks like a very promising start for Intel. The lack of any benchmark figures, however, clearly still leaves a lot of questions unanswered. And particularly so in regards to how these GPUs are going to stack up and compare to the current performance landscape.

When Will We Know More?

Coming alongside the launch of their non-K Alder Lake-S processors, Intel is expected to confirm the release of at least two Arc Alchemist desktop graphics card models at their CES 2022 keynote which kicks off on January 4th at 7 PM UK time. And while the new CPUs will undoubtedly represent some good stuff, let’s face it, we all want to see just how good their graphics cards are going to be (and hopefully with Intel providing us with some comparative performance benchmarks).

Remember though, this is Intel, so one huge question still remains as to how competitive these will be, if not in terms of performance, then in regards to their price tag. All going well though, Arc Alchemist could really give both AMD and Nvidia something to think about!
