A Closer Look – Exterior
The H400i looks a lot likes its big brother the H700i, and that’s a very good thing indeed. Both are very similar, albeit gorgeous looking chassis. There’s a huge tempered glass side panel window, showing off the interior in all its glory.
The front panel may look closed up tight, but rest assured, plenty of air can flow through these side vents. Of course, there’s a full-size dust filter behind the panel too, keeping things nice and clean inside.
Dust filtration continues up top too, with a magnetic filter covering the top fan/radiator mounts. If dust gets in this thing, I’ll be sending it back, it’s buttoned up tight!
The front panel is monolithic, with a flat matte finish that oozes premium quality. It’s only a “boring” black rectangle, yet still looks premium; not an easy thing to pull off.
The I/O panel is limited to use two USB 3.0 ports, but I love the purple USB ports, they look ace compared to the stock bright blue.
The right side panel is a big boring panel too, but it’s not without its charm. It’s a really thick panel, which adds strength to the chassis, while also preventing unwanted noise and rattles from the system.
Around the back, there’s a lot going on with the H400i. The 120mm fan mount features height adjustment screw fittings, allowing you to more easily navigate compatibility issues. This is especially handy for AIO and custom loop cooler installations.
There are four expansion slots, each fitted with reusable ventilated covers and a screw guard. To the right, there’s a long screw mount, which could be used to mount some water cooling hardware too.
The chassis supports a full ATX PSU, and a removable bracket at the back allows for a much easier installation process.
Finally, on the base of the chassis, you’ll find a slide out dust filter, keeping your PSU airflow nice and clean. There’s good ground clearance thanks to four large feet, with durable rubber grips. Furthermore, there are screw holes in the base, allowing for direct mounting of some HDD’s on the interior.
