NZXT Signal 4K30 Capture Card Review

A Closer Look

The Signal is a nicely designed bit of kit, it’s got a few trademarks and features that make it unmistakably an NZXT product. From the plastics, the textures, the little perforations on the side, and more. It is going to look right at home in a predominantly NZXT setup. Furthermore, it’s just a nice-looking thing, so even if you have a different desktop aesthetic, I don’t think it’s going to look particularly out of place.

The design is definitely keeping with the “Keep It Simple, Stupid!” mentality too, and it’s a far cry from the cable-riddled nightmares that were capture devices from ten years ago. There’s an HDMI in, and an HDMI out, it’s that simple.

The Type-C port is awesome, as it provides high-speed data transfer to your computer to do the recording, but also provides all of the power the device needs. Having no additional power cables is a huge win.

The left and right sides of the 4K30 are the same, with plenty of ventilation that ensures the internal chipset stays nice and cool. It’s passively cooled too, so it’ll be completely silent, which is obviously ideal in a recording environment.

The front of the unit has a single LED, which can turn either red or white, and blink in various ways too, letting you know if you’re connected, recording, etc.

It’s a nicely made unit and should stay firmly planted on your desk, and those four rubber feet help keep it from sliding around and protect your desktop from scratches.
