Palit Reveal GeForce GTX 1060 GamingPro OC+ With GDDR5X

Over the weekend, we were treated to the news that Gigabyte had revealed a brand new updated version of the highly popular Nvidia 1060 graphics card. The update, which would include a boost with GDDR5X VRAM was seen as a means of clearing out some of the remaining 10XX stock. An easy way to do this is by producing a slightly improved version of the original model.

You could argue that this has also come in light of AMD manufacturers who were set to imminently release an RX 590. This being a relatively upgraded version of the existing RX 580.

Well, in a report via Videocardz, Palit has now officially joined the part by revealing their own Nvidia GeForce 1060 with GDDR5X memory.

What Do We Know About It?

Other than that it will have GDDR5X memory and will feature a GP104 chip (instead of the GP106), very little. Unlike the AMD 590 model which did see benchmarks leak early, we know very little about how much better these will be compared to their particularly (and current) 1060 models.

It is, however, likely that like AMD, we can expect to see something like a 10-15% performance gain. That wouldn’t be bad. Particularly if the newer 1060 models can maintain a price similar to that which they are currently selling for.

The first line of AMD RX 590 graphics cards is expected to release on November 15th. It will, therefore, be curious as to how quickly this Nvidia 1060 alternative can follow up on that. It seems that these popular graphics cards are set to have one final showdown. Who will win? We’ll have to wait and see!

What do you think? Are you considering an AMD RX 590 or updated Nvidia 1060? Do you think the GDDR5X memory will offer big improvements? In addition, do you think these can hold against the Nvidia 20XX range? – Let us know in the comments!
