As this is a hybrid power supply, passive cooling is clearly a factor here. In truth though, the results that returned from this power supply were very strange indeed.
With the hybrid mode off, no matter what load we put through the power supply, the fan speed did not run past 426 RPM, at it’s lowest it ran at 422. We’re not going to quibble over 4RPM and as such, we’ll simply say the fan speed was entirely consistent. This is certainly very strange. When we put this into the hybrid mode though, it got even weirder. Put simply, the fan didn’t operate.
We’re not suggesting that the fan is broken, but this power supply might run surprisingly better than we usually see. Just to be certain we ran the power supply for over 10 minutes at full load and the hybrid mode never kicked in. It’s certainly strange, but you’ll have to make of this what you will.
