Roccat Suora FX Mechanical Gaming Keyboard Review

A Closer Look

The Suora FX comes hard-wired with a good length braided USB cable, I would have preferred a detachable one, but it’s pretty robust and shouldn’t be an issue.

The new frameless design is stunning, ultra slim around the edges, and that means it takes up less desktop space and is easier to transport too.

The keyboard feels robust, despite the slim chassis, and it sits pretty low too, with just a slight wedge shape to the base, so it should be easy to use without a wrist rest.

The keyboard design is pretty basic, or at least it doesn’t deviate from what I would call a standard design. That’s not a bad thing of course, it’s designed to perform great not look like a gaming montage of freaking angles and features like some keyboards on the market. The key caps are of a very nice quality though, with laser etched fonts, and a good quality coating that gives them a light and smooth feel.

The F-keys all feature a set of FN-Shift functions, with F1-4 giving you control over the lighting engine, 5-8 are app launchers, and 9-12 gives you some basic multimedia controls so you can tweak your music while you’re gaming.

In the top right, you’ll find four extra mechanical switches, giving you master volume controls, as well as the game mode button, which locks down the Windows key. There’s a full-size number pad, with all the usual controls there and most importantly, six macro keys turn on in game mode above the arrow keys, giving you even more control!

Around the back, a few cool logo’s across the width of the keyboard, as well as the USB cable in the middle.

Don’t like the cable from the middle? There are two more channels to take it left or right, keeping it out of the way of whatever is on your desktop.

Five firm rubber grips keep the keyboard from sliding around on your desktop, even when you’re mashing at the keys. There are two durable kickstands to increase the typing angle too, and they have rubber grips of their own so you don’t lose too much traction when they’re in use.

The Suora FX uses a set of TTC Brown switches, which use clear casing to allow for the internal RGB LED lighting to shine through. So, let’s get it plugged in and see what it can do!
