ShootMania Storm PC Preview

The gameplay format of Shoot Mania Storm is plain and simple, its an arena based FPS, with your classic two teams facing off against each other format in the tried and tested game types that have always proven successful, such as death match, control points and last man standing game variants. Don’t expect anything complex or over the top in terms of challenges, story, cut-scenes, or any of that nonsense here, because Shoot Mania is all about getting straight to the action.

Everyone in the game is on a level pegging too, there are no weapon upgrades, in fact there are only 3 basic weapons at all for you to choose from, which generally can’t even be swapped mid game! There are also no skill trees, unlocks and progressions for your characters. So that’s right, everyone is the same drone of a soldier, everyone identical in almost every way in terms of abilities, armed with the same guns, it really is all about your own skill set as a gamer, the real differences are sorted out on the battlefield, this almost blank template of a game setup is already going down well with pro-gamers.

The weapons aren’t you usual type either, with a slower firing, but powerful pulse weapon as the games main weapon, you have to calculate where your enemies are going to be by the time your shot gets there, given that everyone is capable of moving pretty fast, this can be quite difficult at first, anyone who has played Tribes Ascend will more than likely be struck with a strong sense of Deja-Vu, the main difference being this game does feature jet packs and friction less boots.

But overall the gameplay is frantic, fast passed, full of jumping platforms and the maps are superbly balanced, encouraging you to keep moving and keep shooting.
